Holly Holm didn’t go unbeaten during her illustrious boxing career.
Holm, who was choked out by Miesha Tate this past weekend at UFC 196, wants to get right back inside the Octagon and on a quest to reclaim the female bantamweight title.
The loss to Tate was the first of Holm’s MMA career, dropping her to 10-1.
“I’ve got to go back to the drawing board and get better,” she said, during a post-fight interview on FOX Sports 1. “I’ve got to keep improving. I thought I had rounds 1, 3, 4 and 5. I made a big mistake and let my guard down.”
After becoming the first person to defeat Ronda Rousey last November, Holm opted to stay busy and take on Tate, a former Strikeforce champion. She used her effective striking to control much of the fight, but when it went to the ground in the second and fifth rounds, her weaknesses were exploited.
“I know the biggest mistake: I wasn’t fighting the hands and shouldn’t have let her get under me,” she said. “I knew that going into the fight. I’m fine. My heart hurts. I just want to get back in there and get it back.”
