As “Superman vs. Batman” prepares to get released, a scarier “Lex Luthor” is working his way up the UFC ladder.
Vitor Miranda earned his third straight finish Saturday night, delivering a perfect head-kick on Marcelo Guimaraes in the second round at UFC 196.
Two quick punches later and the ref stepped in to save Guimaraes from any further punishment.
“I trained very hard. I knew when my kick came in, it would be all over,” he said. “I knew he would come out strong in the first round.”
Miranda (12-4) has now won all three since a loss to Antonio Carlos Junior at heavyweight in the finals of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3. He found an opening for elbows while Guimaraes tried his hardest to get him to the canvas.
“I trained a lot in that situation,” he said. “I saw openings and used (the elbows).”
