Jason Saggo made it 11-for-11 when he gets his hand raised, scoring his 11th career finish in the first round at UFC 196 Saturday night.
After letting Justin Salas bring him to the ground, Saggo (11-2) immediately gained back the advantage. The Canadian was competing for the first time since a 2014 loss to Paul Felder.
“He has a really good double-leg takedown, so we were anticipating that,” Saggo said. “A little rubber guard, I waited for my time to sweep and stayed on top from there.”
Saggo scored a victory over Josh Shockley in his Octagon debut two years ago. The loss to Felder snapped a five-fight win streak for him.
“I am super happy,” he added. “It went better than expected. I love signing twice.”
